Slumdog Millionaire. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
I’ll be writing about it tomorrow or Friday because it’s time for me to go home.
We’ll be watching Australian Open later.
I just finished watching The Haunting of Molly Hartley awhile ago. It was good. It’s the typical scary/suspense movie but the ending definitely was not typical. I definitely didn’t expect it.
I don’t want to do a blow by blow analysis of the actors and their characters so here it is in a nutshell:
Haley Bennett as Molly Hartley was good. She definitely looks like a very troubled and confused girl.
Chace Crawford as Joseph Young was also good. But his role was not very different from Nate Archibald: Popular, cool and hot.. Definitely hot (oh boy haha). I thought his character would be the ‘oh so hot but boring and loving boyfriend’ but there’s a surprise towards the end of the movie.
The other actors were good, too. Molly’s mom was scary.
Anyhoo, just watch the movie.
She’s now on my list of favorite music artists. She’s got an awesome voice and great songs! And you know what’s more amazing? She’s only 18!
Here’s one song:
Laura Marling – New Romantic
I had super crappy internet last week so I was forced to write about my comments on Twilight in my notebook.
Anyway, when I finally got to connect to the net yesterday I started typing my Twilight review and then a few paragraphs later, I realized that my net stopped working again. ugh So now I’m kinda tired of re-typing everything so I’ll make it short (or I’ll try to haha).
Twilight premiered last Wednesday and I was able to watch it with my friends. I’ve been excited about watching it since they announced that Twilight would be made into a movie. Everyone knows that movie adaptations are not as good as the book. A lot of important scenes usually get scrapped due to movie time constraints so I was excited to see how Catherine Hardwicke, the director, would bring the book to the big screen. And despite a few glitches, I really enjoyed watching Rob it. haha
-The casting was excellent.
Robert Pattinson wasn’t actually my first choice for Edward. I never actually thought of him when I was thinking of an actor who could play Edward. I thought Hayden Christensen would be good as Edward but I guess they never thought of him. I think Rob did well but still needs improvement. His Brooding Boy Edward was not as effective as Happy and In Love Edward. I loved the part where he introduced Bella to his family.
Kristen Stewart is Bella. She’s the only actress I know who could pull it off. But, as Sam pointed out, there were times she was twitching. But I’ve seen her in other movies and interviews and she twitches almost everytime.
Ashley Greene is Alice. She’s so cute!
Jackson as Jasper was.. hilarious! He looks like he’s always in pain and in shock. Or he was trying hard not to laugh.
When they cast Nikki Reed to play Rosalie, I thought she couldn’t pull it off. She doesn’t look anything like Rosalie but after watching the movie, I think she can really pull off the snooty and bitchy act.
Peter Facinelli (Carlisle) was hot!
Elizabeth Reaser was perfect as Esme. She looks motherly and caring and thoughtful.
Mike and Eric were funny! I loved them both haha
- I’m glad that they were able to show most of the important scenes. They had to shorten some parts but I think it didn’t change the point of the story.
- I love Rob and Kristen’s chemistry. They definitely look good together.
And now for the bad parts.
- OH. MY. F***ING. SKIN CHIMES
The special effects were horrible! The sparkling skin looked weird and it had wind chimes! And the fast vampire trail thing looked.. stupid. I know they wanted to show how fast the vampires are but really, they could have thought of another way
to do it.
- UNWASHED DONALD TRUMP HAIR.
What the heck was wrong with Jasper and Jacob’s hair? Jasper’s hair is a slightly better version of Donald Trump’s hair and Jacob’s hair looked like it hasn’t been washed for weeks. Rob’s unwashed hair looks sexy but Jacob’s hair just looked gross.
- WHERE WAS THE “DO I DAZZLE YOU?” LINE?!
It’s one of my favorite Twilight lines and it wasn’t there! ugh
- DESIGNER CLOTHES. NOT
My dad pointed this out a few days ago when he saw the trailer. The Cullens are super rich and they have ostentatious cars and wear simple but designer clothes. But in the movie, their clothes don’t look designer at all. Edward’s clothes look ordinary and Alice, who’s supposed to be obsessed with pretty, designer clothes, doesn’t look fashionable.
But I hardly noticed that when I was watching the movie. The Cullens were just so mesmerizing that they could have worn garbage bags and I doubt that people would noticed it at all. haha
- I think the movie focused too much on Edward and Bella’s love story. I’m reading Twilight again and I realized that there were some parts that would’ve been interesting to see but they did not include (Carlisle’s history, etc). They showed a little part where Carlisle turned Edward & Esme into a vampire but that was it.
For a low budget film (38 million), it’s a pretty good movie. There were things that, if done differently, would’ve made the movie much better. I think what made it hard for the cast and crew was all the hype that surrounded it during production and promotion. Some people have never even heard of Twilight before but ever since E! and Daily 10 started talking about the movie and making behind-the-scenes footages, people expected a lot from it. But the Twilight people definitely benefitted from the hype – Twilight made 70million during its opening weekend!
They’ve announced a few weeks ago that they will be making New Moon as well. I think they’ll start shooting in March/April. I think they’ll be given a bigger budget this time so I really hope they’ll do a better job.
Okay, so I said I’ll try to make this short. I guess that didn’t happen. haha sorry.
So it’s set! I’m gonna watch Twilight with some Ubes on the 26th. Normally, I don’t go out on work nights because I have to wake up early the next day but I’m going to make an exception just this once. I’ve waited for the Twilight movie ever since I got hooked on the novel so.. weee I’m sooo excited!
